Interim Statement By The Board Of African Enterprise UK

The Independent Review, led by Keith Makin, relating to the John Smyth Case has now been published.

To all those victims, known and unknown, who have been affected by the abuse perpetrated by John Smyth, we are truly sorry.

We have not seen the report in advance of publication.
  
We are aware that John Smyth was employed by African Enterprise Zimbabwe from August 1984, from the time he left the UK.  At that time Rev Richard Bewes was Chairman of African Enterprise UK and Michael Cassidy was International Team Leader, based in South Africa.
  
The current Board of African Enterprise UK will now read the entire report carefully and will then make a full statement.  We will do that as soon as possible and ask for your patience while we do this.
